OSCE in Moldova completes project focused on youth in Gagauzia
A project promoting greater political participation by youth and civil society in Moldova came to an end on 10 December 2013 in Comrat,Gagauzia, with a lecture on negotiation and mediation. The lecture, given by Ambassador Jennifer Brush, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, also focused on the OSCE’s role in the Transdniestrian settlement process.
As part of the project, diplomats from the UN, EU and OSCE have visited Comrat University to provide open lectures on topics ranging from conflict prevention, human rights and European integration.
Within this project, the Mission organized leadership training for 25 young people from Gagauzia, who had the opportunity to intern at different NGOs, and support the Working Group in Gagauzia, which the Mission helped to establish in 2012 within the National Participation Council.
Brush stressed that the Mission’s activities promote greater political participation in the region through open debates with youth and civil society.
Youth has also been the focus of a number of other activities this year such us negotiation skills workshops, the Leadership Summer School and the Model OSCE.
