Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova discussed decentralization, Roma rights in Soroca
The Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Jennifer Brush, travelled to the town of Soroca in the north of the country on 5 June 2013 to get acquainted with the situation of the region and discuss decentralization and Roma rights.
The schedule in Soroca included meetings with the Major Elena Bodnarenco, the Head of the Regional Council Victor Său, and President of the Roma Association Bare-Rom, Robert Cerari.
The visit was especially relevant in view of the OSCE Mission’s project to study the implementation of the National Decentralization Strategy, and its work on the promotion of rights of national minorities, including Roma, in the areas of political participation, education, housing, civil registration, combating racism and discrimination, and protecting the rights of displaced persons.
