OSCE Mission to Serbia and Anti-Corruption Agency mark International Anti-Corruption Day
Some 100 high-level officials from the region dealing with the fight against corruption and senior representatives of Serbian institutions, civil society organizations and the media gathered for a regional conference in Belgrade on 14 December 2017 to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day.
The conference, "Co-operation of the anti-corruption institutions in the region" was jointly organized by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Anti-Corruption Agency, with the support of Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.
The discussion focused on the position and the status of independent anti-corruption institutions in fulfilling anti-corruption standards and the effectiveness of preventive mechanisms in fighting corruption.
Participants included relevant officials from Ljubljana, Podgorica, Pristina, Rome, Sarajevo, Zagreb and the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) in Belgrade.
This conference is a part of the OSCE Mission to Serbia’s wider efforts to support the implementation of the National Strategy in the Fight against Corruption for the Period 2013-2015.
International Anti-Corruption Day is held annually and marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Anti-Corruption Convention in December 2005 as the one and only legally binding, universal anti-corruption instrument.
