OSCE Mission to Serbia supports education programmes for juveniles and women in Serbian correctional institutions
The OSCE Mission to Serbia handed over IT equipment and school supplies to the Kruševac Correctional Institution for Juveniles on the occasion of its 70th anniversary and to the Požarevac Prison for Women, on 9 June 2017.
The objective of this initiative is to boost education programmes for offenders in both institutions, preparing them for release and better social reintegration.
This is part of the OSCE Mission’s long-term assistance to the Ministry of Justice’s Directorate for Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions. “This year, the Mission’s support will focus on programmes for social reintegration and prevention of reoffending, paying particular attention to two particularly vulnerable groups - juveniles and women,” said the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ambassador Andrea Orizio.
The partnership between the Directorate and the Mission has resulted in a number of joint activities, including the drafting of regulations on enforcement of criminal sanctions, drafting of policy documents, and various training programmes for prison staff.
