OSCE-supported workshop on introduction of new technology in electoral process opened in Podgorica
A two-day workshop on the introduction of new technology in the electoral process was opened on 29 June 2017 in Podgorica.
The two-day programme for 40 participants, officials and staff of the State Election Commission of Montenegro and Montenegrin Municipal Election commissions includes presentations by relevant international and regional experts in the field of electoral IT solutions. The experts will provide the participants with the best options for the improvement of their work practices.
Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro Maryse Daviet highlighted the importance of co-operation between the Mission and the State Election Commission, and the continuation of that co-operation. “The workshop will further assist the institutions in making an informed decision on what is best in terms of delivering responsibilities as commissioners in line with the law and international election standards,” she said.
President of the State Election Commission Budimir Šaranović, said: “We are grateful for the Mission’s co-operation in the form of technical and expert support. We also appreciate the financial support for building the capacity of the electoral administration in line with international practice.”
The Mission organized this event within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the State Election Commission on 5 May 2016 with the aim to support the development of the SEC in line with international best practice to strengthen their capacities to administer elections.
