OSCE Mission to Moldova supports discussion for NGOs on web technologies
The OSCE Mission to Moldova gathered 16 civil society representatives from the left bank of the Dniester/Nistru River (Transdniestria) for the final meeting in this year’s Civil Society Club series on 27 October. The event, held in Tiraspol, focused on NGOs using web technologies to raise awareness about their work and better connect with their communities.
Participants discussed how to bring their activities closer to the needs of people via easy-to-use web resources. A local expert introduced them to new web applications that can be used to share information and provide beneficiaries with instant access to different types of assistance available in their community, such as legal aid or social services and benefits.
Elena Kupreichuk of the Ribnita-based legal information NGO Vialex said: “This is a very useful meeting. It is great to not only hear about the benefits of new software but to also see how it can be used to further our work. I liked the practical demonstrations and would have liked to spend more time practising. I welcome more opportunities like this in the future.”
Civil Society Club meetings are part of a year-long project implemented jointly by the OSCE Mission to Moldova and the Tiraspol-based Apriori Legal Information Centre, and serve as an informal platform for dialogue among NGOs in Transdniestria. Five meetings of the Civil Society Club were organized this year. Participants confirmed that they received useful information on a variety of topics related to their work. They learned about new, interactive ways to promote human rights, how to better manage time and competing projects, and how to sustainably secure funds and human resources.
