PRISTINA, 27 January 1999 - The OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission condemns the shooting of five civilians near the village of Rakovina, reported Monday, as a criminal and brutal act which cannot be tolerated.
Horrendous incidents such as this are detrimental to KVM's efforts to create peaceful conditions in Kosovo as the necessary background for negotiations to achieve a lasting political solution to the conflict in the region.
