OSCE Mission in Kosovo regrets loss of life, calls for calm and co-operation
Prishtinë/Priština, 27 July 2011 - The Acting Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Edward Joseph, said today that he regrets the loss of life and injuries in the wake of the operation by Kosovo police special units in northern Kosovo.
“OSCE joins the appeals of its partners in the international community for calm, and for the avoidance of steps that could make the situation more volatile,” said Joseph. “Dialogue among all sides concerned remains key to resolving outstanding issues”.
He added that the Mission also appeals to all leaders to avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and to continue the close cooperation with KFOR and EULEX that is helping to reduce tensions.
OSCE Mission will continue to liaise closely and widely with representatives of all communities in order to help defuse tensions.
