45-day municipal election campaign begins in Kosovo
PRISTINA 12 September 2000
PRISTINA, 12 September 2000 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General, Dr Bernhard Kouchner, and the Commander of KFOR, Lieutenant General Juan Ortuno, will join OSCE Head of Mission, Ambassador Daan Everts, at a special event to mark the beginning of the municipal election campaign period on Wednesday, 13 September.
From that date, there will be 45 days to go to election day. This means that important legal provisions, covering campaign expenditure and equitable media coverage, will now come into effect.
Representatives of the political parties who will be contesting the October 28th elections, along with members of the Kosovo Transitional Council and OSCE and UNMiK officials have also been invited to attend the official campaign launch which will take place at the ABC Cinema in Pristina.
