OSCE provides District Courts with generators donated by the British Government
PRISTINA 7 July 2000
PRISTINA, 7 July 2000 - The OSCE will soon be delivering a large (113 KVA) generator to each of the five District Courts in Kosovo.
The British Government has donated funds to the OSCE Mission in Kosovo that will provide all District Courts in Kosovo with a reliable electricity supply. This project has been carried out in close co-operation with the UN Civil Administration Pillar.
The important work of the Kosovo judiciary, like that of many other Kosovo institutions, has been affected by the inconsistent nature of the power supply in Kosovo. The new generators will provide sufficient electricity to heat and light all the offices and courtrooms of each of the five District Courts. Therefore, thanks in large part to the generous donation of the British Government, the operations of the District Courts in Kosovo will no longer be interrupted by power outages.
The generators arrived in Pristina on Wednesday. The installation will start next week at the District Court in Pristina. The installation of all generators will be finished in approximately three weeks.
The OSCE will continue to give logistical and technical support the judiciary in Kosovo.
