Prominent women from Belgrade and Prishtinë/Priština hold fourth meeting
Fourteen prominent women representing parliaments, academia, civil society and media from Belgrade and Prishtinë/Priština gathered for the first time in Belgrade on 15 and 16 December 2014 as part of the so-called “Budva Process,” aimed at enabling these women to engage in a direct dialogue.
Participants discussed the role of women in politics and the issue of economic empowerment. A set of recommendations which is to be included in an action plan for joint activities was also produced.
This was the fourth in a series of meetings facilitated by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the OSCE Mission in Kosovo since 2012.
“With the Budva Process we would like to show the importance of dialogue and co-operation,” said Suzana Novobrdali, a former Member of the Assembly of Kosovo. “Everyone can contribute to this process, but without women it would be incomplete.”
Marija Obradović, Serbian Parliament women’s parliamentary network representative, said: “Through mutual dialogue and co-operation we want to show why it matters that women join forces, how it can change us and the world we live in for the better.”
