OSCE Mission Head condemns continuation of intimidation and attacks against North Mitrovica/Mitrovicë municipal assembly candidates

Prishtinë/Priština, 18 October 2013 – Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger condemned today’s attack on the property of the Kostić family. Aleksandra and Đorđe Kostić are listed as candidates for the North Mitrovica/Mitrovicë municipal assembly in the 3 November elections.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms this heinous attack. This is the latest in a series of incidents that have taken place in the past few weeks. These acts of intimidation undermine security of people living in northern Kosovo and are interfering with the ongoing election process. They are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated,” said Schlumberger.

Ambassador Schlumberger called on relevant institutions to investigate the incident as a matter of urgency and bring perpetrators to justice.
