OSCE Mission sponsors study visit of Kyrgyz police officers to Georgia
TBILISI, 13 June 2007 - Six Kyrgyz police officers are in Georgia this week to study police-media liaison strategies.
During the 5-day visit, organized by the OSCE Mission to Georgia and the Georgian Interior Ministry, the Kyrgyz officers will learn about the Georgian Ministry's methods for press and public information work, including producing specialized TV programmes and developing websites.
"Sharing experience is important for providing the basis for further developing Kyrgyz police press strategies. This programme is a good example of how the Georgian authorities, the OSCE and partners in the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry work together," said Marco Kubny, the OSCE Adviser on Community Policing.
The programme also includes visits to the Georgian Police Academy and the NGO ALPE which has trained Interior Ministry spokespersons.
