VIENNA, 2 November 2011 – Dunja Mijatović, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, condemned the petrol-bomb attack on the editorial offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris today.
“Violence against media is an attack on freedom of expression, which underpins all democratic, open societies, and I condemn this act in the strongest terms,” Mijatović said.
“Whatever the reasons, attacks against a media outlet and its journalists are intolerable. I remain confident that the French authorities will quickly and thoroughly investigate the case and bring the perpetrators to account.”
