OSLO, 13 March 1999 - The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Foreign Minister Knut Vollebæk of Norway, strongly condemns the terrorist acts in Kosovo on 13 March. At least 6 persons were killed and 57 wounded in bombings in Pudojevo and Mitrovica.
Such criminal and cowardly acts aimed at killing innocent people are totally unacceptable. The purpose could only be to place obstacles in the way of the peace process, which will be resumed in Paris on 15 March.
Chairman-in-Office Vollebæk underlines that these terrorist acts must not be allowed to delay the search for a political settlement. On the contrary, they should reinforce the determination to reach a settlement. The Agreement negotiated at Rambouillet constitutes a fair and balanced solution and should be accepted by both Parties. The future of the people of Kosovo is in their hands, and they must exercise that responsibility by signing the Rambouillet Agreement.
