OSCE Chairperson-in-Office welcomes resumption of direct dialogue between leadership of Chisinau and Tiraspol
KYIV, 19 September 2013 – The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara welcomes the agreement reached on a meeting of the Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leancă and Transdniestrian leader Yevgeniy Shevchuk, scheduled for 23 September in Tiraspol.
This meeting was preceded by continuous and persistent work of the sides, active mediation efforts of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office as well as of other participants of the negotiation process for the Transdniestrian settlement in the “5+2” format.
“The Ukrainian Chairmanship remains ready to provide all possible assistance to the sides to further develop a constructive dialogue, as well to strengthen trust and confidence between Chisinau and Tiraspol,” the OSCE Chair said. He also called upon the sides to work actively and persistently at all levels in order to solve pending issues in the interests of the population of both banks of the Dniester river, as well to achieve real progress in the Transdniestrian settlement process.
