38th IPRM meeting takes place in Ergneti

ERGNETI, 18 October 2013 - Today, the 38th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by Head of EU Monitoring MissionToivo Klaar and Ambassador Andrii Deshchytsia, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Conflicts.
Participants reviewed the incidents and occurrences that have taken place since the previous IPRM meeting. Issues related to detained and missing persons were raised in a constructive atmosphere.
The continued installation of fences along the Administrative Boundary Line and its adverse effects on the livelihood of the local population were discussed. The co-facilitators voiced proposals for tailored solutions to local problems to ease the effects of developments on the local population.
In this regard, participants also discussed recent events in the village of Dvani. The co-facilitators called on all sides to show restraint and refrain from actions that could have the potential to increase tension.
The next meeting will take place on 15 November.
The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms were established under the Geneva International Discussions, which are co-chaired by the OSCE, the EU and the UN.
