33rd IPRM meeting takes place in Ergneti

ERGNETI, 16 April 2013 - On 16 April the 33rd meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Special Representative for conflicts Ambassador Andrii Deshchytsia and the Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz.
The participants assessed the security situation on the ground as calm and quiet and welcomed a prompt release of detainees. No major incidents were reported.
Constructive discussions were held on possible repair work of segments of the Tiriphoni irrigation channel and on a sharing of water. Actions by Tskhinvalli towards repair work on the Sameba potable water intake were also discussed.
The participants exchanged information on prisoners and looked at various proposals.
Agreements were reached to notify through the hotline about planned agricultural activities and to ensure the safety of the farmers concerned. Also, all agreed to show leniency during the forthcoming Orthodox Easter holidays.
It was agreed that the next meeting of the IPRM will take place on 30 May.
After the meeting, Ambassador Deshchytsia undertook a visit to Zardiantkari and Didi Kurvaleti to follow up on concerns regarding freedom of movement, which were extensively discussed in this and previous meetings of the IPRM.
The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms were established under the Geneva International Discussions, which are co-chaired by the OSCE, the EU and the UN.
