Round table on media legislation initiatives

25 members of Parliament, experts from the Parliament and the Government, representatives of the media community and international organizations will participate in the round table. This event is a follow up of the recent round table on media legislation organized by the international agency Internews, and the revision of media legislation and new initiatives will be discussed.
The aim is to identify and address the issues of media freedom in the light of the news media. The agenda is built on the results of previous discussions of amendments to the Law on Public TV, Law on TV and Radio, of the necessity of creating a common law covering all the public status media, and the programme on the digital switchover. Other related issues, such as access to information, criminal and civil codes in the work of journalists, are covered by the agenda. The report of the meeting would become a contribution to the Parliaments updated understanding of the information policy issues.
