The workshop, together with the participation of representatives of Kyrgyzstan’s state structures and international experts, will focus on elaborating priority directions for improving Kyrgyzstan’s current legal base in accordance with the UN’s universal conventions and protocols against terrorism.
The wider aim of the project is to assist relevant Kyrgyz authorities to improve legislation to combat terrorism, especially in the process of ratification and implementation of the 16 UN universal conventions and protocols against terrorism. This will be done through a workshop for Kyrgyz officials who support the OSCE's efforts in ensuring that the participating States ratify the 16 universal anti-terrorism instruments (UATI).
Kyrgyzstan has adopted 10 of them so far and building on the efforts made in 2009, the CiB will continue its support to relevant executive, legislative and judicial bodies in advancing in the process of ratification and implementation of these instruments.
