President of Kyrgyzstan visits OSCE Academy in Bishkek
President of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbaeva paid a visit to the OSCE Academy in Bishkek on 15 April 2011. She held a lecture followed by a question-and-answer session with students and alumni, and met with the Academy management.
In her lecture President Otunbaeva laid out her vision for the future functioning of the parliamentary system in Kyrgyzstan, discussed the advantages of the system and addressed political developments in the country over the past year.
Responding to questions, the president reflected on relations with the international community and donors, the investigation of June 2010 events and the issue of joining the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, as well as on building ties with partners within the Central Asian region, including Afghanistan. She welcomed the plans of some students to pursue a career in governmental institutions and encouraged their aspirations to join public service.
President Otunbaeva also expressed her appreciation for the comprehensive support that the OSCE provides to Kyrgyzstan.
