OSCE Centre condemns recent explosion in Bishkek and calls for thorough impartial investigation

BISHKEK, 3 December 2010 - The OSCE Centre in Bishkek condemned the recent explosion in the Kyrgyz capital and called for a proper investigation.
"I strongly condemn this violent incident. As this explosion and the anti-terrorist operation in Osh highlight the security situation in the country and in particular in the south remains fragile. I urge all actors to show restraint and respect the Rule of Law. The use of violence is unacceptable in pursuing any goal. In addition, I call on the authorities to carry out a thorough and impartial investigation on these events with due respect for international human rights standards ," said Lilian Darii, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
"The OSCE stands ready to continue supporting the Kyrgyz Republic in its efforts to normalise the situation and promote and protect the security and rights of all of its citizens."
