OSCE Centre enhances computer skills of Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry troops
BISHKEK, 1 November 2010 - A two-week OSCE-supported training course for internal troops of Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry supported by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek on enhancing computer skills started today.
Thirty-five middle and high-ranking staff dealing with the protection of critical energy infrastructure will take part in the course, covering such topics as effective use of office applications and software.
"Protection of critical energy infrastructure is a high priority for the OSCE participating States, and this course aims to help Kyrgyzstan enhance the expertise of its internal troops to better protect important energy frameworks," said Lilian Darii, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
Colonel Sovet Arbaev, Commander of the Internal Troops of Kyrgyzstan, added: "The training course organized with the OSCE's assistance will improve the knowledge of our officers, newly recruited ones, and help them work more effectively."
The OSCE Centre supports the course in line with an OSCE Ministerial Council decision on assisting the protection of critical energy infrastructure in OSCE participating States.
