OSCE Centre in Bishkek improves forensic expertise of Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry
BALYKCHY, Kyrgyzstan, 23 September 2010 - A one-month training course supported by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek for 26 police forensic experts concluded today in eastern Kyrgyzstan.
The trainees were newly recruited experts from all regions of the country working for Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry. They learned about crime scene protection, fingerprint analysis and cold arms examination.
"Forensic examination and crime scene investigation are essential components in providing impartial evidence and securing convictions. This training course has helped the Kyrgyz police to improve the quality of investigations," said Lilian Darii, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
"Successful co-operation between the OSCE and the Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Interior has resulted our being able to provide important practical courses for the newly recruited experts in a short period of time," said Georgiy Karakay, the Deputy Chief of the Forensic Centre, which provided the instruction.
The course was organized by the Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Interior with the support of the OSCE Police Reform Programme.
