BISHKEK, 19 August 2010 - The OSCE Centre in Bishkek donated eight off-road vehicles fully equipped with loudspeaker alarm units to Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry as part of the OSCE's police reform programme for the country.
The vehicles will be given to police stations in southern Kyrgyzstan and to remote police substations in the Chuy and Naryn provinces.
Lilian Darii, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, said: "We hope that this contribution from the OSCE Centre in Bishkek to strengthen the technical capacity of the Kyrgyz police will help police substations in remote areas increase their mobility and effectiveness."
Interior Minister Kubatbek Baibolov said: "Thanks to the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Interior is regularly improving its technical capacity, which I am convinced will ensure that the police can deliver its services in a more effective and efficient manner."
