Kyrgyzstan's Customs Service launches specialised training for customs instructors with OSCE support
BISHKEK, 1 June 2010 - The Kyrgyz Customs Service today launched an OSCE-supported training course on customs procedures and enforcement operations.
The three-week course, targeting 65 customs officers, is taught by six instructors who have been trained by OSCE customs advisers in a project organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
"This course contributes to the OSCE Centre's and the Customs Training Centre's efforts to bring Kyrgyzstan's customs service in line with best international practice," said Lilian Darii, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
The course forms part of a 23-month OSCE project in which eight Kyrgyz Customs Service instructors are developing a core customs curriculum based on requirements identified in a nation-wide questionnaire and in line with international standards and best practices. The project will also support the training of customs trainers and officers from Afghanistan at Kyrgyzstan's Customs Training Centre.
