OSCE Centre supports investment fair for southern Kyrgyzstan
OSH, Kyrgyzstan, 14 November 2008 - Attracting and stimulating economic investments for business in southern Kyrgyzstan is the aim of an investment fair in Osh today.
The one-day fair, supported by the OSCE Centre's field office, will showcase investment projects to potential clients, set up direct links between entrepreneurs and potential investors and present locally produced goods. The event is the second regional investment fair to be organized by the local NGO the Economic Information Dissemination Centre.
"This fair broadens economic co-operation, increases the scope of investment activities and brings new mechanisms of regional integration to the business sector," said Aaly Karashev, the Governor of Osh Province.
Hugo Karlsson, the Head of OSCE Centre's field office in Osh, added: "Attracting investments to southern Kyrgyzstan will not only improve the environment for regional business and social infrastructure, but will also increase the local population's standard of living."
Business representatives from Kyrgyzstan, other CIS states and China, as well as local state authorities and representatives of international financial institutions, including the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and Islamic Development Bank, are taking part in the fair.
