OSCE Field Office supports gender analysis training for Osh City Council deputies
OSH, Kyrgyzstan, 10 April 2008 - Introducing methods of gender analyses for the deputies of the City Council of Osh was the aim of a training workshop organized by the Field Office in Osh of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek today.
"The goal of achieving gender equality must be supported by decisions of the local self-governing bodies, that is why we have launched this project," said Bojidar Dimitrov, Head of OSCE Field Office in Osh.
The training event was implemented by the local NGO Ensan-Diamond. About 30 participants, including the staff of Osh Mayor's Office and representatives of the Justice Department, took part.
Trainers from the Agency for Social Technologies conducted the seminar, which was based on the national gender policy, Kyrgyzstan's international commitments, and gender-related legislation.
The OSCE Centre plans to organize more training sessions this year.
