OSCE Centre in Bishkek conducts special module for OSCE Academy students
The OSCE Centre in Bishkek organized a module from 21 to 25 September 2015 for about 50 students of the OSCE Academy’s two master’s degree programmes focusing on the historical background of the OSCE and the nature of its political commitments.
The module, which was held at the premises of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, also gave students to learn about the OSCE’s institutions, field missions, current challenges and future prospects.
“It is important to understand the differences in mandates and thus activities of the different OSCE institutions and field missions,” said John MacGregor, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
OSCE officials from the Secretariat, the Centre in Bishkek and other Central Asian field missions led interactive sessions explaining the OSCE’s comprehensive security concept. They also elaborated on the OSCE’s work in anti-terrorism, arms control, democratization, combatting money laundering and corruption, human rights, gender equality and promoting genuine and transparent democratic elections.
