OSCE Centre in Bishkek conducts sixth co-ordination meeting for Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies on combatting organized crime and violent extremism
The sixth regular co-ordination meeting of Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies was held on 25 September 2015 at the premises of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, with participants focusing on elements of organized crime that merge with violent extremism.
The meetings are organized by the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry in co-operation with the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, with the aim of enhancing the co-operation, capacity and policies of law enforcement agencies in fighting organized crime at the grassroots level.
“This platform of co-ordination meetings allows us to improve the joint struggle against organized crime and developing common approaches to amend existing legislation and refine current practices,” said Pavel Khalashnyuk, the head of Police Affairs at the OSCE Centre in Bishkek. “The establishment of good business relationships among key government agencies is vital for the effective fight against transnational and regional organized crime groups.”
At the end of the meeting, the OSCE Centre donated office equipment to the tenth main department of the Interior Ministry specializing in countering violent extremism and terrorism.
