OSCE-supports election reporting for journalists
BISHKEK, 12 June 2015 - OSCE Centre in Bishkek jointly with Internews Kyrgyzstan and Development Alternatives Inc, organized series of trainings for Kyrgyz broadcast and print journalists across the country to support their professional development ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2015.
The first training seminar attended by 28 regional reporters will take place on 12-14 June, and the second training course for Bishkek-based broadcast journalists will be held on 18-20 June.
“Providing balanced and accurate information to the public on the electoral process is key responsibility of media which can help voters make informed decisions”, said Maciej Dachowski, Head of Politico-Military Dimension, at OSCE Centre in Bishkek. “I hope the training will upgrade the professional skills of journalists necessary to deliver inclusive and transparent coverage of the upcoming elections, offering a diversity of opinions, perspectives, and analysis.”
The training courses will cover principles of objective, balanced and inclusive reporting; media ethics frameworks; practical skills of new election coverage formats: interviewing, talk show and how to write for internet-based news agencies.
