OSCE Centre in Bishkek supported Kyrgyz delegation’s participation at largest annual human rights and democracy conference in Warsaw
The OSCE Centre in Bishkek supported the participation of the Kyrgyz delegation at the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting 2014, in Warsaw, Poland, on 23/24 September 2014.
The Kyrgyz delegation consisted of members of the Parliament, representatives of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Culture, Information and Sports Ministry, NGOs, Media Policy Institute and the media, actively participated at “Fundamental freedoms” session lead by OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović.
The session was devoted to the importance of democratic institutes, freedom of the media, freedom of expression, media and information, including the protection of journalists engaged in dangerous professional missions, and the role of civil society in the protection of human rights.
The Kyrgyz delegates also held a number of meetings with Polish high officials to discuss the digitalization process.
The Human Dimension Implementation Meeting is Europe's largest annual human rights and democracy conference. It is organized every year by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) as a platform for 57 OSCE participating States, Partners for Co-operation, civil society, international organizations and OSCE structures to take stock of the implementation of the human dimension commitments, discuss associated challenges, share good practices and make recommendations for further improvements.
