Preventing drunk driving in Kyrgyzstan goal of OSCE training
An OSCE-supported training course on the use of alcoholic breathalysers for twenty officers of the Road Patrol Service of Kyrgyzstan concluded on 8 December 2013 at the Police Academy in Ankara, Turkey. The training precedes the official introduction of breathalysers in Kyrgyzstan before the end of 2013.
The course, organized by the Turkish Police and supported by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, trained traffic officers in the use of breathalysing equipment, to help them more effectively combat drunk driving.
Victor Sotchi, Head of the Police Reform Programme of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, said: “The initiative is especially important during winter holidays when the number of both weather- and alcohol-related traffic accidents rises.”
Kyrgyz Road Patrol Service Chief Talantbek Isaev took part in the training.
The training course was supported by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek as part of its wider co-operation with the Kyrygzstan’s Interior Ministry, and of the work to enhance road safety and raise awareness about drunk driving.
