OSCE supports a concert by children’s musical theatre in Bishkek

A production of "The Green World” by the popular children’s musical theatre Taberik took place on 16 October 2013 in the Kyrgyzstan’s National Philharmonic with support from the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
The show consisted of dances and songs on various environmentally-related and cultural topics, and was performed by 250 children of different ages from the Taberik theatre. The event was organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek in order to promote the OSCE’s activities in environmental and cultural fields, as well as to encourage the target audience – children and youth – to get involved in an environmentally-friendly way of life. Another aim of the event was to promote a range of green professions, such as biologists, ecologists, specialists in melioration, and forest rangers.
Teachers and parents, accompanying their children, had the opportunity to learn about the OSCE’s activities in these areas from the Centre’s experts as well as from the OSCE’s partners in international organizations, such as Global Environmental Fund's Small Grants Program (GEF), and various local NGOs.
Ambassador Sergey Kapinos, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, also took part in the event, organized as a part of the OSCE’s project “Increasing Environmental Awareness in Kyrgyzstan” with support from the OSCE Centre in Bishkek’s Police Reform Programme.
