OSCE Academy in Bishkek supports academic discussion on regional security in Central Asia

Some 25 leading experts, governmental officials and representatives of the diplomatic community in Bishkek took part in the annual seminar on regional security in Central Asia, hosted and organized by the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, from 6 to 7 September 2013.
The Geneva Centre for Security Policy, the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and the Near East South Asia Centre for Strategic Studies supported the event.
The two-day seminar aimed to map the current and expected security trends in Central Asia in 2013 and beyond. As a result of the discussion, policy recommendations for national and international actors were produced.
The speakers at the event included distinguished regional and international policy analysts and scholars with a professional focus on Central Asia and its neighbourhood.
The seminar was first held in 2008. It is a unique forum bringing together Central Asian and European and other policy experts and scholars who work on matters related to comprehensive security in Central Asia. The Geneva Centre for Security Policy issues a summary of discussions as part of the Geneva Paper series.
“This seminar is unique for the region, as it brings together the most reputable experts who are ready for frank exchanges on the most difficult regional security issues the international community is facing,” said the Director of the OSCE Academy Maxim Ryabkov.
