OSCE organizes environmental education camp for children from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
An ecological summer camp organized by the OSCE for the children of officers from the state border services of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took place on 20 July 2013 in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan.
The camp, which includes both an environmental and a confidence-building component and is meant to foster regional co-operation and understanding between the State Border Services of the three countries, was attended by a total of 60 children. They spent 11 days together in a recreation centre on a northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul and took part in interactive environmental classes, field trips to sightseeing locations in the area, a visit to the Ruh-Ordo cultural centre in Cholpon-Ata, and a sailing trip.
The camp was part of a wider environmental awareness-raising project implemented by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek together with the Organization’s Office in Tajikistan.
