OSCE-supported policy course promotes comprehensive security in Bosnia and Herzegovina
SARAJEVO, 27 May 2010 - A two-week course on comprehensive security policy for officials from several government ministries and other leadership institutions, organized by the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and a Council of Ministers working group, concluded today in Sarajevo.
The course, developed by the OSCE Mission, the BiH Inter-ministerial Working Group for Monitoring Security Policy Implementation and Training (IMWG) and the Ministries of Defence, Security and Foreign Affairs, was the fifth of its kind. It focused on the roles and obligations of governmental and non-governmental authorities, institutions and other actors in building an effective security sector in the country.
"Maintaining informed dialogue on comprehensive security matters and professional interactions are important for the security sector," said Ambassador Vadim Kuznetsov, Deputy Head of OSCE Mission to BiH. "The OSCE and its participating States - including Bosnia and Herzegovina - are in a partnership working toward an overarching goal we all share: comprehensive security in the country and region."
More than 30 officials representing the BiH Ministries of Security, Defence, Foreign Affairs, Human Rights and Refugees, the Armed Forces of BiH, the State Information and Protection Agency, the BiH Foreign Trade Chamber, the BiH Directorate for European Integration, the European Union Delegation, European Union Special Representative, NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and the OSCE Mission took part in the 5th Security Policy Course.
