BiH Election Appeal Sub-Commission upholds PEC decisions on eight candidates
SARAJEVO, 12 September 2000 - The Election Appeals Sub-Commission (EASC) is issuing six decisions today. Four are appeals having to do with the recent Provisional Election Commission (PEC) decisions denying the candidacy to certain individuals, on the lists of political parties, who did not comply with the Rules and Regulations. In each of the four decisions, which includes a total of five candidates the decision of the PEC was affirmed and the appeals of the political parties dismissed. Following is a list of each candidate and the reason for the decision:
Cvijetin Nikic - SDS standing for election for the RS National Assembly. Appeal denied due to his being barred from holding public office by the Office of the High Representative on 5 November 1998.
Petar Pasic - DNZ standing for election for the House of Representatives of the Federation. Appeal denied because candidate is not properly registered.
Rada Kovacevic - DNZ standing for election for the Cantonal Assembly in Canton 1. Appeal denied because candidate is not properly registered.
Marin Rebac - HDZ standing for election for the RS National Assembly. Appeal denied because candidate is not properly registered.
Enes Colic - SDA standing for election Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Canton 10. Appeal denied because candidate is not properly registered.
In addition the EASC denied the appeal of the independent candidates, Radovan Simic and Momir Grahovac, standing for election for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the RS, because the proper number of valid signatures of support were not submitted in accordance with PEC Rules and Regulations.
Finally the EASC denied the appeal of Miljenko Milos concerning the acceptance by the PEC of the application from the United Croat Party of Rights of BiH to participate in the November 2000 General Elections.
