Provisional Election Commission requires political parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina to submit Official Annual Financial Records
27 June 2000
SARAJEVO, 27 June 2000 - In addition to the Campaign Finance Requirements for political parties, coalitions and independent candidates adopted by the Provisional Election Commission (PEC) last week, the PEC now requires political parties to submit their official annual financial records to the commission.
"Political parties in BiH have always filed very detailed periodic and annual reports with the Payment Bureaux, which will now also be filed with the PEC," said Ambassador Robert Barry, Chairman the Provisional Election Commission and Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina. "This step will essentially allow us to receive very detailed and official information about party financing, and to cross-check the information that parties give the government with the reports they file with the PEC."
All certified political parties and political parties that are members of certified coalitions shall file a copy of their periodic financial report with the Provisional Election Commission Secretariat by August 1, 2000, one day after they are required to file these reports with their respective Payment Bureau.
For more information, please contact OSCE Spokesperson Tanya Domi at 033/292-222 or 066/144-311.
