OSCE Office in Baku supports the integration of energy efficiency provisions in public buildings
BAKU, 13 December 2013 - Policy guidelines on the integration of energy efficiency provisions in public procurement is the main topic of a conference organized by the OSCE Office in Baku and the Centre for Strategic Studies (CSS) under the President of Azerbaijan.
The purpose of this event is to provide methodological guidance in improving the integration of various energy efficiency policies in public buildings, in line with international standards.. Leading national and international experts will present practical initiatives in the field of energy efficiency and address opportunities and challenges related to decreasing Azerbaijan’s energy intensity.
“Energy efficiency is one of the main components of a sustainable energy policy,” said Ambassador Koray Targay, Head of the OSCE Office in Baku. “The OSCE Office in Baku stands ready to support the relevant state agencies in Azerbaijan in developing their institutional capabilities and infrastructure to achieve energy efficiency excellence in the country.”
The OSCE Office in Baku and CSS will present their joint research findings, whichintroduces a roadmap of policy guidelines on energy efficiency in Azerbaijani public procurement, focusing on construction of new buildings. The roadmap presents key tasks and possible tools for decision makers and stakeholders. It also provides advice on compliance tools and identifies needs for further technical assistance, including discussion on a cost-optimal level of minimum energy performance of buildings and building elements.
