Some 16 mid-level police officers from the regions of Kazakhstan will attend a three-day training seminar on best practices in multi-ethnic policing in Kazakhstan.
The event aims to raise awareness, increase the sensitivity of the police on inter-ethnic relations as well as to build their capacity in promoting the inter-ethnic relations within the police structures. Experts from Canada, the Russian Federation and Ukraine will share with the police officers expertise and knowledge on understanding the concept, principles and norms of multi-ethnic policing and ways to apply them in carrying out daily tasks.
The event is a follow-up to the project launched in 2012 aimed to enhance the capacity of the Interior Ministry and police officers to operate in multi-ethnic environments.
