Some 20 representatives of central and regional administrative police departments of the Interior Ministry will participate in a two-day seminar to learn about best practices in public assembly management.
Participants will discuss the legal basis for public assembly management, structure and organization of special police units to manage public assemblies, pre-emptive strategies for managing public assemblies, law enforcement tactics designed to deescalate tensions and promote co-operative interactions and regulations regarding the use of non-lethal weapons at public assemblies.
This training seminar is especially relevant for Kazakhstan in light of the upcoming EXPO-2017 event, during which the country expects to host millions of international visitors.
The seminar will be led by experts from the OSCE’s Strategic Police Matters Unit, Armenia and the United Kingdom.
The event is part of the OSCE Centre in Astana's activities to enhance security, increase accountability, and promote law enforcement personnel’s knowledge of best practices.
