OSCE Centre in Ashgabad contributes to first roundtable in Turkmenistan on legal ethics

ASHGABAD, 2 May 2003 - The OSCE Centre in Ashgabad contributed to a roundtable held in the Turkmen capital, Ashgabad, today, entitled "Legal Ethics for Legal Advisers".
The event, the first at which this issue was discussed in Turkmenistan, was organized by the American Bar Association's Central and Eastern European Law Initiative (ABA/CEELI).
The OSCE Centre's legal adviser gave a lecture on "Philosophy and Ethics".
The roundtable also included discussions on professional ethics, pro bono work, the specifics of ethics in legal practice and a working session on theoretical cases deriving from legal practice.
Seventeen legal experts working as lawyers and legal consultants working with private companies and government institutions participated in the event.
