OSCE Ashgabad roundtable looks at problems of small and medium-sized enterprises

ASHGABAD, 30 April 2003 - Difficulties faced by the small and medium-sized businesses in Turkmenistan were discussed at an OSCE roundtable in the country's capital, Ashgabad, yesterday.
Representatives of government institutions, private enterprises and international organizations were invited to the roundtable on Regulations of the Registration Chamber.
The first of a series of three roundtables was aimed at helping to overcome administrative barriers for small and medium-size businesses. The issues of registration and re-registration of enterprises and their relations with government bodies were addressed.
Businessmen from all regions of Turkmenistan shared their experiences, outlined the difficulties of small and medium-sized enterprises during the registration process and proposed ways of solving these problems.
The meeting was organized by the Union of Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, with the assistance of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabad.
