OSCE Centre organizes workshop on marketing in agribusiness in Turkmenistan
ASHGABAD, 19 September 2008 - More than 20 students, professors and professionals from Turkmenistan's State Agricultural University are taking part in an OSCE-organized workshop on marketing and market research in agribusiness that concludes in Ashgabad today.
The seminar was organized in co-operation with the Foreign and Agriculture Ministries.
"Focusing production on meeting consumer needs is indispensable in achieving market efficiency. In Turkmenistan, where agriculture is an important contributor to economic growth, marketing and market research in agribusiness can significantly contribute to the country's efforts in achieving its growth targets and optimizing resource allocation," said Christian Fischer, a German expert delivering the workshop.
The workshop addressed issues pertaining to market potential, segmentation, market price assessment, company level demand, consumer preferences, competitor behaviour, product development and supplier needs.
The OSCE Centre in Ashgabad will continue to support programmes aimed at enhancing security and capacity building in the agriculture and food processing sectors.
