OSCE Centre organizes lectures on global financial markets

ASHGABAD, 16 November 2007 - More than 150 students, professors and young professionals from Turkmenistan's financial agencies are attending lectures on global financial markets and international finance in Ashgabad this week, organized by the OSCE Centre.
Two international finance experts presented theories, applications and best practices in foreign exchange and Eurocurrency markets, as well as in exchange rate systems and monetary policy. Case studies are also being assessed, and the interactive nature of the discussions enabled the audience to obtain a clear understanding of factors influencing financial markets.
"We are glad to be here and help in Turkmenistan's integration into the global economy," said Viren Chanmugan, a financial consultant to Dutch banks who is one of the experts delivering the lectures.
John Brophy, a consultant to the Manchester and Leeds University Business Schools, added: "Such activities strengthen national professional capacity and facilitate co-operation. We are ready to continue assisting the country in fostering a new generation of financial professionals."
The OSCE Centre plans to organize more similar activities in 2008.
