OSCE Centre helps organize lectures on global economy in Ashgabad

ASHGABAD, 2 October 2006 - More than 300 students will attend lectures on global economy and international economic relations that began today at the Turkmen State University and the Turkmen-Turkish University.
The lectures, organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabad together with Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry and the universities, will focus on issues of globalization, sustainable development, help facilitate the exchange of experience between universities, and expand the international academic network.
"The lectures on global security will show students how strong the links between economy and security are," said Danielius Pivoriunas, the Centre's Economic and Environmental Officer. "Under this project, we also plan to organize study tours and educational exchanges.
Professor Anis Bajrektarevic of the International Management Centre at Krems University of Applied Sciences, added: "I am very impressed by the extensive interest, commitment and knowledge demonstrated by the Turkmen students.
"For me it is an exceptional opportunity to learn more about Turkmenistan's international economic relations within the region and globally. I also hope that this event will help establish long-term co-operation between Turkmenistan and Western universities."
