Head of OSCE Presence in Albania commends nomination for People’s Advocate
TIRANA, 15 December 2011 - The Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania Ambassador Eugen Wollfarth today welcomed nomination of a candidate for the position of the People’s Advocate (Ombudsman).
“I commend the recent steps and preparations by the Socialist Party to present a candidate for the position of People's Advocate,” Wollfarth said. “This is a crucial step in finally filling this important position, which has been vacant since early 2010, and in making the work of the Advocate’s Office fully efficient again.”
Previously, the Head of the OSCE Presence had repeatedly expressed his concern about the failure to elect a new People’s Advocate in due time.
“I look forward to the Assembly’s decision regarding the nomination of the new People’s Advocate, who can effectively contribute to the defence of the rights and freedoms of citizens vis-à-vis the public administration,” Wollfarth stressed.
