OSCE Mission to Serbia in partnership with the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the UN and YUCOM
This conference will look at forming a national policy on human rights defenders, and will address the main issues of concern for human rights defenders in Serbia, and possible redress mechanisms.
Other topics of discussion will include: the freedom of assembly and association, the freedom of expression, the existing legal framework and practice, the state response (state and non-state actors), the EU mechanism and strategy,consultation processes with human rights defenders, the role of the media, the role of state institutions, the role of national human rights institutions, and will also look at good practices in building netwroks for human rights defenders, using examples from the region and the South Caucasus.
