Child Safety Olympics Finals
The finalists from across Serbia first won the competitions in their own towns to qualify for the finals which involved educational sessions and sports tournaments. The Child Safety Olimpics aim to educate schoolchildren about the importance of safety in general by developing their knowledge, skills and confidence through interactive learning. The event was jointly organized by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Police Districts of Kragujevac, Jagodina, Valjevo and Vranje. In addition to schools, police engaged other local actors such as civil society organizations, the Red Cross, the Health Centre, the Sector for Emergency Situations and public as well as private businesses. Although the Child Olympics have been taking place since 2012 in different regions, this is the first time national finals have been organized. This activity is a part of the Mission’s efforts to strengthen preventive policing, police-public partnerships and the community policing concept.
